Redirect TTL
Control how long redirected DNS answers may be cached.
What Redirect TTL does
Redirect TTL overrides the Time to Live, in seconds, for DNS answers redirected by a Custom Rule, Service Rule, or Default Rule. The normal Redirect TTL is 20 seconds.
A longer TTL can reduce repeated DNS lookups. It can also delay a location or redirect-target change taking effect because devices may continue using their cached answer.
Set Redirect TTL
- Edit the Profile and open Profile Options.
- Enable Redirect TTL.
- Enter the desired duration in seconds and allow the setting to save.
Turn the option off to return to the normal Redirect TTL. The field initially shows 20.
When to change it
Leave the normal value in place unless you have a specific caching requirement. A long TTL is particularly inconvenient when testing different redirect locations.
This option does not enable redirection or choose a location. Configure the redirect action separately in Custom Rules, Services, or the Default Rule. See TTL Overrides for general caching guidance.
