How do you know if you are studying right?

I am studying for my nursing school entrance exam and I have absolutely no idea what I am doing. I have been reading the same chapters for a week but I keep forgetting everything. I have been looking for HESI exam prep coaching online to see if someone can make me a study plan. I feel so disorganized that I am scared I will never pass. Do you guys use coaches or just figure it out alone?
