Slow speed on proxy

To the ControlD Support Team,

I am a new subscriber who recently migrated from NextDNS to explore ControlD’s Global Proxy capabilities. While the standard DNS performance is satisfactory, I am experiencing a severe drop in connection speeds specifically when the Global Proxy feature is enabled on my macOS and smartphone.

Issue Description: When I enable Global Proxy (set to either "Auto" or a specific country), my bandwidth drops to near-unusable levels, comparable to 2G speeds.

Technical Observations:

Video Performance: With Global Proxy active, YouTube struggles to load and defaults to 360p resolution.

Baseline Comparison: Immediately upon disabling the Global Proxy, I am able to stream 4K video content without any buffering or latency issues.

Consistency: This occurs regardless of whether I select a specific geographic location or use the "Auto" setting.

I am interested in using ControlD as my primary provider, but the current proxy performance is a significant bottleneck. Could you please check if there is a routing issue between my ISP and your proxy egress points, or if there are specific configuration adjustments I should make to restore my expected speeds?

System Details:

Devices: macOS Tahoe and Android Smartphones

Connection Type: Airtel Air Fiber

Location: Dibrugarh (Assam)

I look forward to your technical guidance on this matter.

Best regards,

Malay Chaudang
