Feature Request: Device-Specific DNS Offline Alerts (Integrated Monitoring with ControlD DDNS)
4 days ago by undefined
Hello ControlD Team,
I would like to suggest a feature that would be extremely useful for users who rely on ControlD for both DNS and DDNS.
Feature idea:
Allow us to enable offline alerts for specific devices that are assigned to a custom DNS profile. For example, if I assign a dedicated ControlD DNS resolver to a router or server, I would like to receive a notification (email or push alert) when that device becomes unreachable/offline.
Why this matters:
- Currently, most common routers do not support third-party monitoring services combined with DDNS.
- By having this functionality directly in ControlD, we could avoid using external uptime services.
- It would create a seamless integration between ControlD DDNS and DNS, making it easier to monitor the availability of key devices (e.g., routers, servers, IoT gateways).
Suggested options:
- Enable/disable alerts per device/DNS profile.
- Choose notification type: email, webhook, push.
- Simple dashboard view to check device availability history.
This would save us from relying on external tools and make ControlD a more complete solution for users managing their own networks.
Thank you for considering this!
