ControlD doesn't work on restart (Mint 22)

I actually had this issue on Mint 21.2 and Mint 21.3 as well.
Using the ctrld deamon.

When system is shutdown and later restarted, DNS queries are not redirected to ControlD.
In order to make it work, I have to use the CLI
sudo ctrld service restart

Oddly, the service reports that it is running, it just doesn't seem to be catching the DNS queries until I manually restart the service.

Anyone got any ideas on this? Happens on multiple laptops and desktops.
