Geo Custom Rules

This sounds like a good feature: https://docs.controld.com/docs/geo-custom-rules?ref=blog.controld.com

Please correct any aspect i’ve misunderstood, but if we can now block domains based on the location of their IP address, this must mean ControlD is assessing the IP address of websites and deciding whether they should resolve or not?

would it be possible to compare the ip address with the domain name and take action (e.g. block) if there is a match?

This would be useful because some sites, particularly proxy sites, use a domain name like https://157.230.79.247 . Obviously these can’t be added as custom rules at the moment as they’re just ip addresses, but these websites are indexed by search engines. No worthwhile website has a domain which is just its ip address, so it would be useful to just block all the ones where the ip matches the domain. It would make the VPN, TOR, Proxy filter even more effective

thanks
