Support wIldcards in mac addresses?
I'm currently using the 'macs' list in the 'policy' section of my listener to route from group of devices (currently 'IoT' or 'Kid Safe') to the appropriate profile. I have a 'default' profile that catches everything that's not specifically identified in the macs list. Seems to be working well so far.
I would like the ability to use wildcards or partial MAC addresses in entries for that 'macs' list. The reason being I could then basically write one entry in the macs
list to cover a given manufacturer. In my case, my security cameras, doorbell, and NVR are all from the same manufacturer. Same for a number of home automation devices I own. I'm sure it's common to have more than one Amazon Echo or Google Home device in a home, too.
Being able to use wildcarded MAC addresses for entries in the macs
list could significantly shorten it. It certainly would in my case. It would also remove the need for me to manually add a new device to the list if I have devices from that manufacturer on my network already.
p.s. Extra credit if you also list the MAC prefix/OID for each MAC address on your clients list
command ;)
As you probably know already, the entire OID database can be downloaded at no cost from https://regauth.standards.ieee.org/standards-ra-web/pub/view.html#registries (the three 'MAC address block' downloads listed there).
